Planning, Research & Statistics Department

 

Introduction 
The Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS) Department was set up in compliance with the Civil Service Decree No.43 of 1988. It is one of the three service Departments in the Ministry. It liaises and cooperates with all the Departments in matter relating to policy formulation, data collection, analysis, storage and dissemination, programme/project design, performance monitoring and evaluation, as well as External Relations. By extension, the Departments is the think-tank of the MDAs as its functions cut across other Departments and Parastatal of the Ministry. 

Mandates/Structure
The PRS Department has two main Divisions and one Branch. These are Planning Division and Research & Statistics Division. The Planning Division handles policy matters including FEC, Monitoring & Evaluation, National Council on Women Affairs and Social Development as well as Bilateral and Multilateral Technical activities among others. The Research & Statistics Division is responsible for research, analysis and store of relevant data/statistics as well as information on Women, Children Elderly and People with Disability, interfacing with other MDAs in areas of Research and Policy matters, supervising, managing the Ministry’s Libraries, coordinate the production of annual reports, maintain the Ministry’s Databank, setting up of the Ministry’s website. The HIV/AIDs section is responsible for all HIV/AIDs projects/programmes and any other duties as may be assigned.
