The Gender Affairs Department is committed to advancing gender equality, women's rights, and the empowerment of women and girls in Nigeria through policy development, advocacy, and strategic partnerships.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to design and implement policies and programmes geared towards promoting gender equality, equity and protection of the rights of all citizens of Nigeria irrespective of gender.

Mandate

The Gender Affairs Department is charged with the responsibilities of promoting Gender Advancement and coordinating the sustenance of a gender equality perspective in the plans, project and programmes of the Federal Government to meet the targets of the National Gender Policy. The Department coordinates interventions for the prevention, response and tracking of the gender mainstreaming at all levels of government.
