The Nutrition Department is dedicated to improving the nutritional status of women and children through evidence-based interventions, education, and policy development.

Key Functions

  • Development of sector specific guidelines on Gender Mainstreaming (Development)
  • Coordinating of international agencies on gender equality and empowerment i.e., multilateral Government and non-Governmental Organization's
  • Coordination of Government-to-Government Bilateral Cooperation on Gender issues/concerns
  • Coordinate the preparation of periodic country progress reports concerning gender on major treaties, convention and charter signed and ratified by Nigeria
  • Ensure sustenance of the national gender information on management system and data management
  • Participation and engagement in statutory global continental and regional (United Nations (UN) and African Union) meetings
  • Uphold and implement global conventions, protocols and resolutions concerning gender
  • Coordinate advocacy and resource mobilization in states to advance gender equality and empowerment concerns that hinges on gender including domestication of appropriate legislation
  • Monitoring and evaluation of international, regional and national framework for the advancement of women and girls
  • Develop and implement strategic activities and palliatives intervention for men and women in the emergence of crises and natural pandemic
  • Participate and celebrate all gender related global international days
