BRIEF ON MS. MOJISOLA VICTORIA AKINT ARO:

DIRECTOR, REHABILITATION

 

Ms. Mojisola Victoria Akintaro was born on 29th April, 1958 in Ogbomosho,
Oyo State.

 

EARLY EDUCATION:

Ms. Mojisola Victoria Akintaro started her early education at Pacelli School for  the Blind, Lagos from 1964 to 1970. From there, she proceeded to the prestigious Queen's College, Lagos for her secondary education. She was there from 1971 to 1977. Due to her excellent and brilliant performance during her academic pursuit at Queen's College, she was offered scholarship to study Psychology, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselling and Vocational Rehabilitation at the University of Northern Colorado where she obtained Bachelor of Arts, Science and Master of Arts.

 

CAREER PURSUIT:

During her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), she taught speech and language difficulties, guidance and counselling and Braille which earned her a Certificate in recognition for her performance.

After her youth service, she joined the Federal Civil Service of Nigeria to contribute her own quota to nation-building. She started as a Social Development Officer I, GL 09 in 1984. From there,  she rose to become a Director in the Federal Civil Service in the year 2012.

 

INTERNATIONAL                CONFERENCES,                  SEMINARS,             TRAINING            AND WORKSHOP:

Ms. Mojisola Victoria Akintaro has attended several conferences, seminars, trainings and workshops within and outside the country. Some of these conferences and seminars are:

(i) 7th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities (UNCRPD) which was held in New York, USA in June, 2014. During the session, a Nigerian was elected as a member of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities;

(ii) 11 th Session of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) which was held in Geneva, Switzerland in April, 2014.

(iii) World Blind Union, Bangkok, Thailand in November, 2012;

(iv) Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), New York, USA in October,
2012. Just to mention, but a few.

 

MEMBERSHIP AND EXTRA CURRICULUM ACTIVITIES:

Ms. Mojisola Victoria Akintaro is a member of the National Programme for Prevention of Blindness (NPPB) and has equally served as Vice President of National Braille Council of Nigeria (NABRACON) which is an affiliate of International Council on English Braille.

Ms. Mojisola Victoria Akintaro is a Director in charge of Rehabilitation of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria.

In addition, she ran a programme titled "Beyond The Barrier" on Radio Nigeria 2, Lagos between 1987 and 1988.
